Country music is a popular musical form developed in the southern United States, with roots in traditional folk music, spirituals, and the blues.

 

Red Hill Country Music Festival is one of the top events in Australian country music calendar. It takes place every January in Red Hill, just South East of Melbourne.

Youth Talent Section

 

The Youth Talent section of the Red Hill Country Music Festival is sponsored by the Rye Branch of the Bendigo Community Bank. The Youth Talent section is not a competition, but an opportunity for the young person to showcase their talent in the Country Music field.

The following information should be read before an application to perform is posted to the Youth Talent Coordinator.

1. Performers must be attending Secondary College during the year of the Festival.

2. Performers can appear as a soloist or group, but must have either of the following: 

a)      backing tape provided by the performer

b)      playing their own music e.g. playing guitar

3. Performers will be given the opportunity to perform two songs.

4. Performers must be at the Festival by 8.45 am ready to perform during that first hour (9.00am to 10.00am) and will be required to be in attendance for the duration of the day. During the first hour performers will sing one song. During the course of the day and between the artists as listed on the program, the performer will have an opportunity to perform one more song.

5. If selected for the Festival the performer should forward a history for an introduction by the emcee. Approx 150 to 200 words please. This to be done by January 4th.   (Email to:  jeffreyps2@bigpond.com)

6. Performers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent and or guardian.
